South Africa Description

Certainly the most developed of all sub-Saharan countries, the infrastructure is generally good and reasonably reliable. The main wildlife areas are concentrated in the north-east of the country, dominated by the famous Kruger National Park. We recommend travellers self drive as this allows greater flexibility of the itinerary.

Wide range of accommodation throughout the country. In the wildlife areas, choose between the small and generally luxurious lodges on private property, or the simple but adequate accommodation provided by the National Parks and KwaZulu/Natal Nature Conservation (camping and self catering are also available) within the protected areas.
Excellent general game-viewing, and very good photographic opportunities.
Activities in wildlife areas generally limited to drives and walks. Limited boating and canoeing available in KwaZulu/Natal.
Host of specific interests catered for – wine, botany, ornithology, whale watching, shark diving, fishing.
